The “Student-Industry Meeting” event, organized by the Construction Technology and Mapping-Cadastre Programs of Malatya Turgut Özal University Darende Bekir Ilıcak Vocational School, brought together students with prominent professionals working in the fields of construction and mapping.

Held on May 14, 2025, in the Vocational School Conference Hall, the event addressed topics such as career development, internships, structural safety, inspection processes, construction site practices, and professional responsibilities. The event was attended by Vocational School Director Dr. Kadir DOĞANŞAHİN and academic staff. Moderated by Vocational School Deputy Director Dr. Mahmut BAŞSÜRÜCÜ, the guest speakers included Kadircan ESEN, President of DAİMFED Malatya Branch; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ceren KINA, Faculty Member of the Civil Engineering Department at Malatya Turgut Özal University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences; Civil Engineer Hüseyin BENLİ from Malatya Building Inspection Company; and Survey Engineer Habip TOPBAŞ from Darende Municipality.

M.Sc. Civil Engineer Kadircan ESEN emphasized the importance of internship training, highlighting how his own experience with steel structures during an internship significantly contributed to his career. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ceren KINA shared valuable insights on sustainable building materials and innovative concretes. Civil Engineer Hüseyin BENLİ provided in-depth information on the current state of Turkey’s building stock, field challenges, and the need for improved inspection mechanisms. Meanwhile, Survey Engineer Habip TOPBAŞ evaluated the current situation and emerging methods in the surveying sector.

The speakers drew on real-world examples from the field, offering students practical perspectives. In particular, they emphasized the vital importance of building inspection following the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, while also answering questions from students.

The event concluded with the presentation of gifts to all speakers and a group photo session.
